Harmony Baptist Church is a come-as-you-are family working out the Great Commission together — teaching God's Word, growing in Christ, and welcoming every race, color, and creed to worship Jesus as one.
Pastor Melvin Mosley felt the call to ministry in 2011 and served as Associate Pastor at Oak Hill Baptist Church before the Chattooga Baptist Association asked him to lead a new multicultural congregation. After much prayer, Harmony Baptist Church was born in December 2020 — with a vision to win souls of every race and build the Kingdom of Christ right here in Chattooga County.
Today that vision still guides everything we do: a laid-back atmosphere that challenges you spiritually while letting you worship comfortably, exactly as you are.
Everything at Harmony flows from a simple aim: know God's Word, grow in it, and put it to work in the way we love our neighbors.
Equipping every believer as a saint for this moment, ready to serve the Lord God Almighty.
Teaching God's Word faithfully and helping every member grow in Christian maturity.
Living the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) and the Great Commandments — loving God fully, and loving others as ourselves.
Natives of Summerville, married with three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, and lifelong servants of this community.
Both raised in Summerville, Pastor Melvin and First Lady Betty came to faith at Oak Hill Baptist Church, where they served for years as teachers, Sunday school leaders, and youth and mission directors. Pastor Melvin answered his call to ministry in 2011 and became Associate Pastor at Oak Hill in 2020, before being asked by the Chattooga Baptist Association to plant Harmony Baptist Church later that year. Together they lead a congregation built on the motto: "A Worship Place for Every Race — where we give God all the glory for His wonderful work."
